Global Infrastructure Basel (GIB) Foundation is a Swiss foundation promoting sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Sophoi is developing GIB’s organisation-wide Impact Framework and MEL system, designed into its Board-approved strategy to help operationalise it.
As GIB moves from project- and programme-level work towards systemic change, the framework will enable it to articulate its overall contribution — how its focal areas, programmes and partnerships reinforce one another as ‘one system’ — and to evidence long-term, sustained outcomes and impacts, including contribution it does not currently capture.
The framework is guided by three principles: complexity-aware, portfolio-oriented and built around collaborative sense-making. It is designed to be readily communicable, to strengthen GIB’s capacity to learn and course-correct, and to stay proportionate — a light overlay on existing processes rather than a parallel reporting burden.
