Sophoi led a pilot for the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG) to translate its Conversation-Based Reporting (CBR) approach into a robust, portfolio-level learning system for climate philanthropy. Acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the Integrity Pillar team, Sophoi facilitated sense-making workshops to refine how conversational data can become the primary engine for strategic learning.
By replacing traditional written reporting forms with structured conversations, CECG captures the rich context and nuance that forms often erase. AI (NotebookLM) is used for secure synthesis of conversation transcripts, which then feed Miro-based collaborative sense-making sessions.
This project represents the latest evolution of Sophoi’s ESLA Loops approach: a full three-step, complexity-aware evidence, sense-making and learning system, showing that human-centred conversations, supported by a rigorous learning infrastructure, are a powerful source of evidence on complex challenges.
